Our Apartment

This past week my current roommate and I moved into a new place. The place that Laura and I will live after we get married. The apt complex used to be advertised as "Louisville's Presitegious Adult Community" - aka "unassisted assisted living place" or "old folks home" or the like. It's basically a bunch of old people living in apartments. Now, it's no Highlands area apt or what's slowly becoming the hot spot known as Eagles Eyrie, but I'm learning that it is a great place. Directly below us is a really sweet old lady named Beth who was "just thrilled" to see us move in. Then, Mrs. Posey who lives a few doors down was also quite excited about having some young folks move in. They have taken great pride in their apt's by putting all kinds of potted plants and flowers in what would otherwise be very dull hallways and having welcome rugs all other decorations in front of their doors. This morning Laura left for Oxford for two days and it gave me an oppurtunity to just be at the new place alone and look around a little more. I decided to do laundry and the washer and dryer are conveniently located down in the basement. As I walked into the dark basement room with some storage and the washer and dryer, I noticed all kinds of notes around from "neighbors" to "neighbors". For example, "Gena" was letting everyone know that she wasn't able to do laundry anymore because of all of the steps, so she was having a young girl do it for her and that if anyone saw her not be alarmed because she was helping her out. That was one of many notes all over the place. The place was spotless too. There was a calendar and clock, several tables and chairs with magazines on them, and the lint trap in the dryer was completely empty! All of this was in a windowless storage room down in a basement and it was about the nicest laundry room I've ever been in. This may seem a little random, but I'll take this place over those hip places any day.
