Sometimes, You Get What You Pay For...

This past week, LB and I planned to have our engagement pictures taken. My work schedule was different than normal and I was unsure if it would change by the weekend or not, so we tentatively planned with Michael and Mickey Winters for Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Well, Saturday rolled around and I was still on 1st shift (day shift) so we planned for that night. I hadn't had a hair cut in a while and LB kept dropping hints that I needed one... so, as much as I hate the way fresh cut hair looks sometimes, I thought it's better than no cut... I guess. Right after work, I headed over to Super Cuts on Hurstborne and walked in and gave my name. About 10 minutes later, a lady calls my name and says "come on back". We had some small chit chat and she asked me how I wanted my hair cut. I said "the same, only shorter" and she said "thats easy enough". Good. Just sit back and relax in the uncomfortable chair and everything should be just fine. She seemed competent enough to ease my mind about anything going wrong... until she broke out the clippers. She started to trim around my ears... and then, she started to CUT MY BEARD! I said, "WOW! WOW!!! Thats my beard and I didn't ask for you to cut it!" She began to apologize over and over and suggest ways to fix it, but the damage had been done. A gash between my beard and my hair... and we were having out pictures taken that night! I didn't say anything to her until I looked at it in the mirror at the place, but I had my glasses off so I couldn't tell the extent of the damage, but I was scared. I said, "this is funny... my fiance and I are having our engagment pictures taken tonight". She again tried to offer horrible suggestions for fixing it and I kept saying "no, it's ok. I'll try and fix it at home." I paid and left with little conversation after that. I was nice and not rude or anything, but I didn't engage in the usual "I have no idea who you are but your hands are all over my head and hair and I've given you the power to changing my appearance" conversations. On the way home, I called LB and she wasn't as mad as I thought she'd be. I looked in the mirror when I got home and I was not as bad as I had imagined in my head. I could see a sunset photograph on the riverfront, with LB and I lookin sharp and then they close in for a head shot and get my 80's style fade line in my side burn broadside. To end the story, LB said it wasn't bad and Michael and Mickey didn't even notice until I pointed it out. Regardless, beware... because sometimes, you get what you pay for.
